Tapani Heikinheimo

Part-time lecturer

School of Cultural Services and Music

Tapani Heikinheimo studied with prof. Erkki Rautio (Sibelius Academy) and Tibor de Machula (Amsterdamn). He performs constantly as a soloist and in chamber music concerts. He completed his dissertation at the Sibelius Academy in November 2009. The interest of the study is focused on instrumental lessons and on the student teacher interaction process. For the interaction process the study introduces and discusses intensity of interaction as a description and a developmental tool. In his work as a cello teacher at the Metropolia and Sibelius Academy, Tapani Heikinheimo guides students, who prepare their solo repertoire and study pedagogy as well. For both purposes he has been using collaborated methods such as improvisation. He is in charge of the Improvisation program, which has now become an obligatory study as part of the bachelor degree programme at the Metropolia.
